Dermatology in Spanish on the northeast side
Dermatología Texas is the Spanish-language service of Texas Skin Center. At the Kingwood office, Dr. Jonathan Aldrete, MD, a dermatologist, and Mayriel Oliver, FNP-C, a certified family nurse practitioner, both speak Spanish and English.
That means your parent or grandparent can tell the clinician in Spanish what they are feeling, whether it is a spot that changed, an itchy rash or skin that will not clear up, and understand the answer without you translating every sentence. Many families in Humble, Atascocita, Porter and New Caney look for exactly that.
Why language matters at a skin visit
Skin problems are often described with everyday words: comezón, ronchas, paño, mezquinos. Some of those do not translate neatly, and details can get lost when a relative interprets. Speaking directly with a Spanish-speaking clinician makes it easier to share the full story and to understand how to use a treatment at home.
Booking for a parent or relative
The online booking system is in English, so the bilingual family member often handles it. A few tips:
- Select New Patient Visit for someone who has never been seen at Texas Skin Center, or Established Patient Visit if they have.
- Fill in the patient's own information, not yours.
- Choose the Kingwood office and Dr. Aldrete or Mayriel Oliver.
Same-day appointments are sometimes available; check the booking system or call. Your relative can also follow the Spanish booking guide at /como-agendar/. For help, call 346-888-4400.
Skin concerns the team can look at
The Spanish-speaking team can evaluate everyday skin problems such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, warts, rashes, actinic keratosis and skin checks for moles. The linked pages are written in Spanish, so you can send them to a parent ahead of the visit.
Procedures like Mohs surgery, Botox, fillers, chemical peels, lasers, IPL, PRP for hair loss and pediatric dermatology are part of Texas Skin Center as a practice. Call to confirm which clinician and office offers the one you are asking about.
Helping your relative prepare
A little preparation helps the visit go smoothly, especially if you are coordinating for someone else:
- Bring the insurance card and a photo ID.
- Write down every medication, cream and supplement your relative uses, including home remedies.
- If a rash comes and goes, take photos when it flares so the clinician can see it.
- Note when the problem started and what has already been tried.
At the appointment, your relative can go over the findings and options in Spanish, and the clinician decides on next steps together with them. If you join, you can focus on listening and taking notes instead of translating.
Signs that need attention soon
Do not wait on a mole or spot that is growing, changing color or shape, bleeding or not healing. A rash that spreads quickly or comes with fever should also be seen promptly. For swelling of the face or throat or trouble breathing, call 911.
